A meeting took place in the city on Wednesday to discuss Da Nang’s socio-economic development tasks and its budget collection and spending for 2014.

One focus will be on improving the quality and efficiency of the local economy, further spurring the infrastructure development as well as ensuring social welfare and security.  In addition, top priorities will be investing in science and technology, cultural and social development, and fulfilling the year’s budget collection and spending targets.

The Vice Chairman of the muncicipal People’s Committee (PC), Mr Vo Duy Khuong, urged the Department of Planning and Investment to put a credit guarantee fund into operation in early January 2014 to help local businesses.  Special attention should be paid to promoting their business activities, improving their competitive capacities, and enhancing the efficiency of the tourism and service sectors and the fast-growing industries.

The PC Chairman, Mr Van Huu Chien, remarked that next year would see potential and sustainable revenue collection from domestic sources in the city.  He added that the city would issue government bonds in the 1^st quarter of next year to increase capital to spur further local socio-economic development.  The focus will also be on implementing 10 key projects, seeking more investments in the Hi-tech Park, and promoting tourism development.  Every effort will be made to help Da Nang become a liveable city.
