Miles from home!
Wedded bliss has started in Da Nang for a British couple. Only last Saturday, in a small village church in England, Nat Miles and Nicola Phillips became Mr and Mrs Miles. Three days later they flew to Da Nang to begin their 3-week honeymoon.

“We have always wanted to visit Viet Nam,” said 33-year-old Nat, “and we decided to begin our married life by visiting Da Nang because we had heard such wonderful things about the city from some of our friends. They told us it had been their favourite place, and that they had been made to feel so welcome wherever they went. They weren’t wrong – we have only been here for a short time but already we are overwhelmed with the friendliness of the local people.”
“This is an ideal honeymoon destination,” added 32-year-old Nicci. “The weather is beautiful, the food is incredible, and the landscape and beaches are stunning. My favourite experience so far has been strolling along Bach Dang in the evening, watching the boats on the river and seeing the changing lights on Da Nang’s fantastic bridges. We stopped at one of the lively bars to sip a cocktail, which made a perfect end to a perfect day.”
Nat is most looking forward to simply experiencing the local lifestyle. “I’ve heard so much about Vietnamese coffee,” he said, “and I can’t wait to sit at a pavement café with a café sua da, and enjoy watching local life passing by.” Nicci, on the other hand, is looking forward to visiting a nail salon for a manicure and pedicure. “I’ve heard that Vietnamese nail technicians are the best in the world,” she said. “I’m also looking forward to exploring some of the local markets to see the variety of local produce which is so different from what we have in England. After such a hectic few months arranging our wedding and honeymoon we are just looking forward to relaxing and experiencing something of the Vietnamese lifestyle.”
A perfect end to a perfect day |
Nat and Nicci plan to visit Hoi An and Hue before travelling down to Mui Ne and the Mekong Delta. For the moment though, they are very happy in Da Nang. “The city has exceeded our expectations,” they said. “It might be our first visit but it certainly won’t be our last.”
The Editors and staff of Da Nang Today wish the couple a very special time during the rest of their honeymoon, and hope that they will take home everlasting memories of Da Nang. Good luck Nat and Nicci, and come back soon!
