Injured fisherman rescued

An injured crew member from fishing boat QNg 98390 TS from Quang Ngai Province’s Duc Pho District was successfully rescued yesterday.

At around 3.10am on Tuesday, 29-year-old fisherman Huynh Tan Cuong had part of his right arm chopped off by a cable whilst the vessel was fishing at latitude 16°14’5’’N and longitude 108°25’6’’E.  He was in a very critical condition with severe blood loss.

After receiving an SOS message from the boat’s owner, staff at the Zone II Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Da Nang MRCC) rang the city’s Emergency Centre 115 to ask for first aid instructions.  In addition, the Da Nang MRCC sent out its ship SAR 274 to rescue the injured crew member. 

At dawn the same day, the rescue ship arrived on the scene and immediately brought the fisherman back to the city for further treatment.
