As part of the 2014 Pacific Partnership programme, a group of doctors from the US Navy recently performed surgery on 16 burns patients, and laser treatment on 38 others, at the Da Nang General Hospital.  This information was officially released at a press conference on 14 June.

Apart from the US doctors who specialise in the treatment of burns, the visiting group also includes specialists in dermatology, plastic surgery, orthopaedic surgery, conventional surgery, and physical therapy and rehabilitation.

During the past week, the US doctors have used 4 of the world’s most advanced skin-resurfacing laser machines, along with the latest treatment techniques, to treat the Vietnamese burns victims.  Other patients with burns injuries have also been successfully treated.

Within the framework of the programme, the US visitors cut the ribbon at the inauguration ceremony of the Hoa Quy Medical Station in Ngu Hanh Son District yesterday.  The medical station had been repaired and upgraded by US construction workers, electricians and engineers.
