14th National Cardiovascular Conference concludes
The 14th National Cardiovascular Conference, which had “Cardiology in the New Era - From Bench Side to Community” as its theme, concluded on Tuesday morning.
During the 3-day event, participants heard a total of 909 scientific reports about cardiovascular diagnosis and interventions, as well as how lifestyle, daily routine and eating habits affect this disease.
On Monday (13 October), the participants watched 5 live surgeries on cardiac interventions being carried out by young doctors from the Da Nang General Hospital. They were doctors Nguyen Ba Trieu, Nguyen Huu Thanh Han, Pham Van Hung, Ho Van Phuoc, Nguyen Quoc Viet and Nguyen Hoang Khanh. One of the operations was on a heart attack patient who had been admitted to the hospital earlier that day. The foreign experts highly appreciated the professional skills and successful outcomes of the city’s doctors.
Also at the event, 5 young doctors were honoured for their research and significant contributions to the treatment of heart disease. Amongst the honourees was Dr Giao Thi Thoa from the Cardiovascular Internal Medicine Ward of the city’s General Hospital. She won third prize in the 2014 Young Researcher Awards.
