As we reported yesterday, 13 crew members from fishing boat BD 95393 from Binh Dinh Province were rescued on Sunday after their boat sank following a collision with a foreign ship off the Da Nang coast.  According to those crew members, their ship had been rammed by the Liberian-flagged ship Infinity.

The captain of rescue ship SAR 412 from the Da Nang Zone II Maritime Search and Rescue Centre, Mr Phan Xuan Son, said that he had seen the Infinity near the scene of the incident as he and other rescuers were helping the victims.

Afterwards, Captain Son sought more information about the foreign ship from the Internet.  Although the ship is now named Infinity, it has been renamed 4 times.  It is registered with IMO number 008115215 and MMSI 636015306, and its call sign is A8ZW3.  The ship belongs to the Turkish Makro Shipping Company but it is currently operating under the flag of Liberia.  The ship left Tieshan Port in China for Singapore on Friday 24 October.

He said that he had already reported the case to the city authorities.  He affirmed that the ship-related information above would facilitate further investigations about the ship and the cause of the incident.
