Doctors in the Paediatrics Recovery Department of the Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital have sucessfully saved the life of 12-month-old Marie Anne Linh Armano from Quang Nam Province’s Hoi An City.  She was admitted to the hospital on Sunday evening in a critical condition suffering from shortness of breath and persistent coughing spasms.

Her mother said that her daughter had eaten a piece of a custard apple before she was taken to the hospital.  Later, she had choking coughs and became cyanotic.  With the help of a chest X-ray, doctors detected that there was a foreign body in one of the baby’s lungs.  On Monday morning, surgeons from the hospital and from the Otolaryngology Department of Da Nang General Hospital successfully performed a bronchoscopy to retrieve a seed from her lung.  After her operation, the baby’s health has recovered significantly.
