Street upgrades in the city
Construction units are busy mobilising all their forces to expedite the upgrading of some of Da Nang’s streets because this year’s rains and storms season is later than last year.
The establishment of the specialised area selling fashion products along a section of Le Duan Street, between its intersections with Tran Phu and Ong Ich Khiem streets, started in late August and is scheduled to be completed by later this year. This section holds a very important position in the inner-city’s transport system. Under the project, the focus is on tiling the existing pavement along the section with pre-cast terrazzo tiles, creating drainage systems, replacing overhead power and telecommunications cables with underground ones, creating parking spaces for vehicles, and re-arranging traffic at intersections along the section. The construction units are making efforts to ensure that the upgrade work will not adversely affect the trading activities along the section.
A number of specialised vehicles are being used to carry out the work |
So far, the installation of 3,000m of plastic tubing to protect underground cables and 1,529m of tubing for power cables has been completed, whilst 850m of kerbs, the foundations for 31 lamp posts, 120 manholes, and 55 drains have also been installed.
With regard to the upgrade of the 7.5m-wide Nam Cao Street, the construction of drainage ditches, manholes and kerbs, along with the asphalting of the road’s surface, has been completed so far.
Meanwhile, 173 of the 267 households affected by the upgrade of To Hieu Street have yet to relocate their homes. If the site clearance work on the street is completed soon, the upgrading project will be completed on schedule.
