At 5.00pm on Sunday, all the 13 fishermen on fishing boat BD 95393 from Binh Dinh Province were rescued after their boat had been rammed by a foreign ship off the Da Nang coast and it had sunk.

Earlier, the boat’s crew members had managed to send an SOS message to fishing boat BD 96959, also from Binh Dinh Province, before switching into their coracle.  They were then adrift at latitude 17°N and longitude 108°4'E in a thunderstorm and strong winds at 12.30pm.  Fortunately, after receiving an SOS message from BD 96959, the city’s Zone II Maritime Search and Rescue Centre (Da Nang MRCC) sent out rescue ship SAR 274 to the scene.

The victims were transported safely to the mainland.
