Information about venomous snakes under investigation
Following instructions from the Da Nang authorities on Monday, the municipal Forest Protection Department is conducting an investigation into an unexpected increase in the number of red-tailed green snakes which have appeared in some local residential areas. They aim to identify the characteristics of this type of snake, as well as the cause of its abnormally high frequency, in order to help local relevant agencies take appropriate measures to handle the problem effectively.
There are now many false rumours going around about the appearance of these venomous snakes and the need for basic snake bite first aid. Therefore, the local authorities suggest that local residents should not worry too much about the issue. However, local residents have been asked to report any useful information to the local relevant agencies to help them to sort out the problem.
The Department’s Head, Mr Tran Van Luong, advised local citizens to take the initiative by cleaning up and removing grass and bushes around their homes to reduce favourable habitats for these reptiles.
