Tightening control of vehicle overloading
Mobile weighbridge stations officially began operating in Da Nang and elsewhere across the country on 1 April. As a result, the majority of domestic truck drivers have raised their awareness of carrying loads within their limits.
In Da Nang, between 1 April and 31 October, a total of 1,389 trucks were found to be overloaded when measured on the mobile weighbridges. Over the period, 2.5 billion VND in fines was imposed on the violators, and 733 drivers had their driving licences temporarily revoked.

In addition to the use of the mobile weighbridges, a municipal inter-disciplinary inspection team was established in September to deal with any overloaded vehicles trying to avoid the mobile weighbridges. To date, this team has also imposed penalties on 70 violators. The majority of the offending vehicles were carrying loads at least 50% above the allowed limits. In an effort to tighten the control of overloaded vehicles, the inspection team will be on duty around the clock.
