Former Quang Da Transport Committee made 'People's Armed Forces Hero'
To mark the 50th birthday (26 May) of the Quang Da Transport Committee, now called the Da Nang Department of Transport, a get-together for the Committee’s former staff members during the anti-American Resistance War took place on Tuesday.
At the event, municipal Party Committee Secretary Tran Tho, under the authorisation of State President Truong Tan Sang, awarded the title 'People’s Armed Forces Hero' to the Committee.

Municipal Department of Transport Director Le Van Trung remarked that his unit’s staff members have made great efforts to successfully fulfil their assigned tasks over the past years.
In 1997, only 420km of concrete roads, of relatively poor quality, existed within the city. Today, the city boasts around 1,200km of concrete roads and a total of 25 bridges across the local rivers, many of which feature unique architectural styles and create landmarks for the city’s urban landscape. In addition, a synchronous transport infrastructure system with local seaports, an international airport and a railway station have been developed in order to meet the requirements of the city’s progress.
Municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Tuan highly praised the Committee’s former staff members for their significant devotion to the development of the city’s transport sector.
Vice Chairman Tuan also said he hoped that the local transport sector will join efforts with the city’s authorities to develop Da Nang into a civilised and modern city. He also stressed the need to fulfil the tasks towards 2020 with a vision to 2050.
