32,248 units of blood collected last year
A ceremony to honour outstanding blood donors across Da Nang recently took place in the city.
Organised by the city’s Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donations, the event was attended by municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, along with 42 groups and 48 individuals who have donated blood over 20 times.
Last year, a total of 32,248 units of blood were collected from 3.25% of the city’s population, surpassing the year's target by 15%. Most notably, many of the blood donors came from local economic groups, foreign-invested firms and religious organisations. They included the Vingroup, the Mabuchi Motor Da Nang Company, and the local Buddhist Sangha.

Vice Chairman Tuan highly praised those who have donated their blood so often, some over 50 times, for their acts of kindness. He also spoke highly of their enthusiasm, voluntariness, selflessness, and compassion in helping to save the lives of numerous patients.
To mark the occasion, Certificates of Merit from the municipal People’s Committee were presented to the local groups and individuals in recognition of their outstanding achievements during last year’s voluntary blood donation campaigns.
