Deputy Prime Minister visits city's SOS Children's Village
On Sunday, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited Da Nang’s SOS Children’s Village in recognition of the upcoming International Children’s Day (1 June). He was accompanied by municipal People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho.
Deputy Prime Minister Phuc presented gifts and extended his kind greetings to children being cared for at the village. He also encouraged these disadvantaged children to overcome their difficulties and study hard in order to become useful citizens in the future.

The high-ranking official highly praised the village’s staff members for wholeheartedly educating and caring for the children here over recent years. He also took the opportunity to thank the SOS Children’s Villages International, a global federation, for its great efforts in protecting and caring for Vietnamese children over the past 30 years.
Over recent years, the village has been home to a total of 403 orphaned, abandoned, and very poor children from the city and other localities in the central region and highlands. Of these, 166 have found suitable jobs, one is studying for a Doctorate degree, 2 possess Masters degrees, 53 are studying at local universities and colleges, and 89 have gained intermediate degrees/certificates.
On behalf of the city leaders, Chairman Tho gave presents to the children. The National Fund for Vietnamese Children and the Civil Engineering Construction Company No 545 donated a total of 100 million VND to the village, whilst the Joint Stock Company No 216, whose headquarters are in Ha Noi, presented 16 TVs worth 200 million VND.
