On Wednesday, over 200 officers and men from the Da Nang Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department and other local relevant agencies took part in a practice rescue of a tourist boat on the Han River.

In a hypothetical situation, at around 9am that day the second deck of the Rong (Dragon) tourist boat suddenly caught fire due to an electrical short circuit whilst it was operating on the Han River, about 100m off the former Han River Port site.  There were a large number of passengers on board at the time.  The boat’s crew members initially used portable fire extinguishers to try to control the blaze, and then called the local fire-fighters.

Shortly after, many canoes and rescue boats, along with hundreds of local firefighters, arrived at the scene to control the fire and rescue the passengers on board.  In addition, other specialised vehicles from local relevant agencies were sent to the scene.

Thanks to the great efforts of the firefighters, the blaze was completely extinguished, and the tourist boat was successfully towed into port.
