Heat waves, water shortage continue in next three months
All regions in Viet Nam are likely to experience higher temperatures and less rain falls between June and August this year compared to the yearly average level, according to the National Centre for Hydrometeorological Forecasting (NCHMF).
The average temperatures across the country in summer months will be between 0.5-1 degree Celcius higher than normal due to the impacts of El Nino pattern while less rainfalls means water shortages will continue in central Viet Nam until mid-September, the NCHMF warned.
Water levels of rivers are forecast to be 30-60 percent less than the average of previous years in central and Central Highlands provinces and even 60-95 percent less in the South Central region.
The heat wave will return to the northern region in the next two days from June 2, with day temperatures hovering between 35-38 degree C.
