On Monday morning, Captain Nguyen Duc Loi’s fishing boat QNg 98588 from Quang Ngai Province’s Duc Pho District suffered an engine breakdown while it was fishing at latitude 16°40'N and longitude 110°20'E, about 120 nautical miles east of the Da Nang coast. The boat, with its crew of 11, was adrift in weather conditions with level 6 winds.
After receiving an SOS message, the Viet Nam Coastal Information Station immediately informed regional and local search and rescue teams and urged them to ask fishing vessels and other ships operating nearby to help the boat in distress.
On Tuesday afternoon a ship from the Zone 3 Naval High Command reached the boat and began towing it back to the mainland.
