Open-heart surgery on 3.2kg baby girl

Doctors from the departments of Cardiovascular Surgery and Intervention, and Anesthesia at the Da Nang General Hospital have successfully performed open-heart surgery on a 3-month-old, 3.2kg baby girl from Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Khanh Bac Ward.
Earlier, the baby girl had been rushed to the hospital with breathing difficulties, heart failure, recurrent pneumonia, and severe malnutrition. She was diagnosed with congenital heart disease with pulmonary hypertension accompanying a ventricular septal defect.

After the over 3 hour operation, the child was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation treatment. She is gradually recovering her health, and she was discharged from hospital on Monday.
