Patient stabbed in heart saved
Doctors from the departments of Cardiovascular Surgery and Intervention and Anaesthesia at the Da Nang General Hospital have successfully saved the life of 50-year-old Le Van Chi from Quang Nam Province’s Que Son District. He was trying to stop a fight between some men in his village when one of the fighters stabbed him in the heart with a long bush-hook.
On 21 June, the patient had been rushed to the hospital in a very critical condition. His pulse and blood pressure were too low to be measured due to the wound to the heart.

The doctors performed surgery on him and detected a hole about 1cm away from the right ventricle of his heart. The wound was carefully sutured and the patient was given intensive care. The doctors remarked that the wound would have been fatal if they had not promptly treated it.
The patient is gradually recovering and is now able to talk and eat normally.
