Police clamp down on exuberant bikers
Da Nang's Traffic Police Department has been taking effective measures to ensure the city's traffic order and safety between 29 May and 15 June, when Viet Nam’s national U23 football team has been competing in the 28th Southeast Asian Games.
They have arranged for local police officers to be on duty at main traffic hotspots, including the western end of the Han River Bridge, the intersection of Nguyen Van Linh and Hoang Dieu streets, the western end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge, and the Tran Thi Ly Bridge.
Special attention is being paid to increasing their patrols and checks on local main streets such as Nguyen Tat Thanh, 3 February, Bach Dang, Tran Phu, Le Duan and Nguyen Van Linh. Their aim is to detect, prevent and deal with any extremist youngsters involved in speeding, reckless overtaking, weaving between moving vehicles or zigzaging through traffic, illegal motorbike racing, and other traffic violations.
Police officers in the wards of Hoa Nhon, Hoa Hiep and Hoa Phuoc in Hoa Vang District, and in Ngu Hanh Son District's Hoa Hai Ward are enhancing their checks and controls over local main streets in order to deal with any illegal motorbike racing.
