At the forthcoming 14^th session of the municipal People’s Council, the Da Nang People’s Committee will suggest that the poverty threshold levels for the 2016 - 2020 period should be raised.

They say that the official poverty threshold should be set at an average monthly income of below 1,100,000 VND per person in rural areas, and below 1,300,000 VND per person in urban areas. 

The city’s 430 billion VND poverty reduction project during the period will be implemented from early 2016.  If the suggested levels are adopted, there will be 23,354 poor families in the city, making up 9.18% of the total number of households.
