A sick crew member of fishing boat DNa 90198 from Da Nang’s Son Tra District was safely brought back to the mainland for treatment last night.

According to the boat’s owner, at 5.20pm on Tuesday 22-year-old fisherman Nguyen Duc Vy from Quang Ngai Province was reported to be suffering from severe abdominal pains and vomiting, and he could not eat or drink anything.  At the time the vessel was fishing at latitude 18°15’N and longitude 111°03’E, about 210 nautical miles off the Da Nang coast.

After receiving an SOS message from the boat, the Zone II Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre sent rescue ship SAR 412 to the scene.

Around 10 hours later, SAR 412 reached the boat and the patient was transferred to the rescue ship for initial first aid before being brought back to the mainland for further treatment in a hospital in Da Nang.
