Sick fisherman rescued
After receiving an SOS message on Sunday afternoon from fishing boat QNa 90927, the Da Nang Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Da Nang MRCC) sent out its rescue ship SAR 412, carrying a doctor from the city’s Emergency Centre, to help a sick crew member.
While the vessel had been fishing at latitude 15°05’N and longitude 115°12’E on the eastern side of the Hoang Sa Archipelago, fisherman Pham Thanh Ngoc had suffered from a serious unexplained illness.
Whilst the ship was en route to the patient, the Da Nang MRCC asked the fishing boat to move towards the Hoang Sa Archipelago at a speed of 4 nautical miles per hour.
The rescue ship reached the boat in the evening of the same day and brought the patient to the mainland for further treatment.
