Since the start of the year, Da Nang’s Hai Chau District has been identifying owners of local vacant land lots and implementing the ‘Green, Clean and Beautiful Sunday’ campaign to deal with the problem of environmental pollution at these land lots.

There are now a total of 1,300 vacant land lots in the district which have become overgrown with weeds and covered with debris and domestic waste.  Only 500 of them have had their owners identified, and they have been fenced around with metal sheets.

In an attempt to stop this environmental pollution, the district’s Office of Natural Resources and the Environment has worked closely with local relevant agencies to ask owners to effectively manage their vacant land lots.  The suggestion has been made to owners to allow the local authorities to use the land lots for other purposes instead of leaving them empty.

Importance is being attached to closely monitoring the vacant land lots and encouraging local residents to clean them up.  The Hai Chau 2 Environment Company’s phone numbers are being widely publicised in order that local residents might ring them to report violations relating to any illegal dumping of debris or construction waste on the vacant land.
