A ceremony to launch the ‘For a National Green Environment 2015’ programme took place at Da Nang’s East Sea Park on Saturday.  The event was jointly organised by the Viet Nam Environment Administration, the Viet Nam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the General Department of Viet Nam’s Sea and Islands, and the municipal People’s Committee.

Themed ‘Developing Tourism in combination with Protecting the Marine Environment’, this year’s programme aims to raise public awareness about the significance of sustainable tourism development in combination with environmental protection for the country’s socio-economic development, and local security and defence in particular.

It also aims to encourage local authorities at all levels, businesses, and residents across the city to uphold their responsibilities for environmental protection in order to promote the tourism development of coastal localities.

After the launch ceremony, members of the city’s organisations and associations, employees from local government departments and agencies, and local residents became involved in clean-up activities along the city’s tourist beaches.
