On Tuesday, the Da Nang Party Committee Secretary, Mr Nguyen Xuan Anh, visited the Social Order-related Crime Investigation Division (PC45) of the municipal Department of Police.  He presented 10 million VND in bonuses from the city’s budget to the officers who had successfully arrested a criminal who snatched a handbag from a Russian visitor.  The offender was 21-year-old Tran Hong Hieu from Khanh Hoa Province’s Nha Trang City, and the property he snatched was valued at over 1 billion VND (44,000 USD) in total.

Secretary Anh highly praised the PC45 police officers for their active involvement in investigating this serious case.  He remarked that the successful investigation has had a positive impact on public opinion, and leaves a deep impression on both domestic and foreign visitors.

As reported in Danang Today on 16 November, as soon as the police were informed of the robbery from 20-year-old Russian Reviakina Ekarerina, team No 6 from PC45 immediately launched an investigation to track down the robber and he was arrested in a Nha Trang nightclub on 13 November.  The local police officers then recovered the stolen items and returned them to the Russian visitor.
