The Da Nang Department of Investigation Police are detaining 21-year-old Tran Hong Hieu from Khanh Hoa Province’s Nha Trang City for 'snatching personal property'.

At 5pm on Thursday 5 November, Ms Reviakina Ekarerina, 20, from Russia was sitting alone at a drinks stall in front of a house at 5 Hoang Ke Viem street in Ngu Hanh Son District’s My An Ward when Hieu visited the stall.  Whilst the victim was distracted, Hieu snatched her handbag and an iPhone 6 from the table and fled.  The handbag contained another iPhone 6, a pair of platinum earrings and personal papers, plus 900 USD and 20,000 RUB in cash.

Hieu later sold one iPhone 6 to Nguyen Van Man from Thanh Khe District for 9.8 million VND and the pair of earrings for 7 million VND.  He also exchanged 900 USD for 20 million VND and 5,000 RUB for 1.9 million VND.  Police tracked Hieu down thanks to information from the people who bought the stolen property and he was arrested in a Nha Trang nightclub on Friday night.
