In these days leading up to the Tet Festival, many organisations and schools across Da Nang are busy preparing and presenting gifts for poor school pupils and teachers to help them enjoy a warm and happy Tet.

Tran Van On Primary School in Hai Chau District has already prepared Tet gifts, worth 300,000 VND each, for its 128 poor pupils.  Each gift includes fashionable clothes, rice, cooking oil and fish sauce.

On 22 January Luong The Vinh Junior High School in Lien Chieu District gave Tet gifts, valued at 200,000 VND each, to 58 of its pupils who are either orphaned or living in difficult circumstances.  In addition, 7 other poor studious pupils received scholarships, worth 600,000 VND each.  Also at the event, some of the school’s staff members pledged to give 600,000 VND each per year over the next 4 years to 6 very poor pupils.

The Education Office in Hai Chau District has recently donated Tet gifts, worth between 150,000 and 200,000 VND each, to over 200 poor pupils and Agent Orange (AO) victims across the city.  Meanwhile, the equivalent office in Lien Chieu District on 23 January appealed for generous donors to buy Tet gifts for 30 needy pre-school pupils.

The municipal Department of Education and Training has bought Tet gifts for poor pupils and AO victims with funds from local organisations and businesses.  210 needy pupils and victims will receive gifts, valued at 500,000 VND each, to help them enjoy a warm and happy Tet.

In addition to helping poor school pupils, the Department and Trade Union of the city’s education sector have also appealed for generous individuals and organisations to help poor employees and teaching staff members in the city’s education sector.  As a result, Tet gifts worth 500,000 VND each will be given to 169 needy members.
