At 9.30pm last Saturday, whilst fishing boat QNg 92020 TS from Quang Ngai Province was fishing in the Hoang Sa waters about 59.03 nautical miles east-northeast of the Da Nang coast, 19-year-old crewman Tran Quoc Tri suffered a heart attack with convulsions, and he became unconscious.

After receiving an SOS message from the fishing boat, the Da Nang Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Da Nang MRCC) immediately sent out its rescue ship SAR 274, carrying doctors from the city’s Emergency Centre 115, to help the sick crew member.

By 11.20pm the same day, SAR 274 arrived at the scene and the patient was transferred to the rescue ship for initial first aid.  

At 0.55am the following day, the sick crewman was safely brought back to Da Nang for further treatment in a hospital.
