Heavy rain and flooding to strike central region
The Mid-Central Region Centre for Hydrometeorological Forecasting has warned of moderate to heavy downpours for parts of Da Nang, and elsewhere in the central region from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai provinces, until 17 December due to the effects of cold air moving down from the north.
In particular, the rainfall in Da Nang will be between 200 and 300mm over the next 3 days, Thua Thien-Hue Province 150 and 250mm, Quang Tri Province 100 and 150mm, and Quang Binh Province 80 and 120mm.
Regional coastal localities are expected to experience north-easterly winds at level 6/7, sea waves from 2 to 4m high, and rough seas.
Coastal provinces from Thua Thien-Hue to Quang Ngai are likely to face landslides, flash floods and severe flooding over the next few days.
