1 billion VND donated for flood victims in Quang Nam Province

On Tuesday, a group of representatives from the Da Nang authorities, led by municipal Party Committee Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri, visited flood-hit Quang Nam Province.

Deputy Secretary Tri expressed his sympathy to local residents about the losses caused by the recent bad weather in the province.  He presented 1 billion VND from the city budget to help local residents overcome their difficulties and re-establish normality in their lives in time to welcome in Lunar New Year 2017.

On behalf of the authorities and people of Quang Nam Province, the provincial Party Committee Deputy Secretary Phan Viet Cuong thanked the Party Committee, the authorities, and the people of Da Nang for their concern for his province.  He pledged to hand over the donated funds to affected local residents as soon as possible.

Heavy rains caused widespread flooding in Quang Nam Province between 28 November and 8 December and between 11 and 17 December last year.  In total, 7 people died, 33 were injured, and 59 houses were damaged.  In addition, 244 cattle and 6,900 poultry died after being swept away by the fast-flowing floodwaters.  The total cost of the damage in the province is estimated to be around 477 billion VND.
