On Wednesday, numerous Tet gifts were given to needy people across Da Nang.

A ceremony took place in Da Nang to give free coach tickets to a total of 400 poor workers and students whose hometowns are in such provinces as Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Binh Dinh and Phu Yen.  These recipients could not afford to return to their hometowns to celebrate Tet with their families.  Tet gifts, valued at 100,000 VND each, were also presented to these people.  During their journeys, they will also be provided with free bottles of Pepsi.

This meaningful event was jointly organised by the municipal Youth Union, the municipal Youth Federation, the city’s branches of PepsiCo and Thanh Nien Newspaper, and the Ho Chi Minh City Student Support Centre.

The Thien Tam (Kind Heart) Foundation, a subsidiary of Vingroup, donated Tet gifts, worth 500,000 VND each, to 200 poor local families in Hai Chau District.  The district’s authorities have recently appealed for generous donors to buy Tet gifts, worth 500 million VND in total, for local disadvantaged people.

The Da Nang Association of Agent Orange (AO) Victims, the University of Da Nang, and the Cong An (Police) Newspaper jointly presented gifts, valued at 400,000 VND each, to 100 local AO victims.

The Thank Khe District Fatherland Front Committee gave gifts, valued at between 300,000 and 500,000 VND each, to 1,730 poor households.

A public arts show, entitled ‘Xuan Yeu Thuong’ (Spring of Love), took place on Wednesday evening, in recognition of the upcoming 20th birthday of Hai Chau District on 23 January and forthcoming Tet Festival.

At the event, generous donors donated gifts and cash totalling 105 million VND which is destined for very poor households, disabled children and the single elderly.

The Hoa Vang District Fellow Countrymen’s Association in Ho Chi Minh City and the district’s Fatherland Front Committee jointly gave Tet gifts, valued at 400,000 VND each, to 500 poor families in the district.  Each gift consists of 10kg of rice and cash of 300,000 VND.
