Nearly 27 billion VND to help the poor celebrate Tet
Following recent approval by the Da Nang People's Committee, nearly 27 billion VND from the city budget will be spent on helping local poor and social policy beneficiaries celebrate the upcoming Tet Festival.
Over 11 billion VND will be used to buy 15kg of rice for each of 20,139 local poor families. In addition, it will also provide for the same to be given to local social policy beneficiaries, families of single women, poor villagers in Van Village, ethnic minority people, workers at the Khanh Son Waste Dump, demobilised soldiers with mental disorders, poor members of the local War Veterans' Association, people suffering from life-threatening diseases, and those who are unable to work at all due to severe disabilities.
In addition, 15.7 billion VND will go to provide financial assistance for those who are in need of help. Specifically, cash gifts of 300,000 VND each will be given to those who are receiving monthly allowances from the city authorities, orphaned children, demobilised soldiers with mental disorders, and those with life-threatening diseases. In addition, 250,000 VND in cash will be donated to each of 4,300 local cyclo and motorbike taxi drivers who are operating under the management of local districts. Meanwhile, 1,950 poor households will receive 600,000 VND each, whilst families of those who are unable to work at all due to severe disabilities will be given 1 million VND each.
The municipal Fatherland Front Committee has recently appealed for local organisations, businesses, and individuals to become actively involved in buying gifts, worth between 300,000 VND and 500,000 VND each, for another 23,000 poor families across the city.
