The positive result has been attributed to various effective measures taken by the local traffic police officers to raise public awareness about strictly obeying the national traffic regulations over the Tet Festival.
On the Lunar New Year’s Eve, local traffic police officers conducted mobile patrols along the city’s major streets, in addition to effectively implementing traffic management to ease traffic congestion.
On the 1st day of the 1st lunar month, the local police force continued to increase their patrols and checks at local major streets to deal with traffic violations. As a result, many traffic violations were timely detected, and most of them involved running through red lights, riding motorcycles without wearing helmets, and going in the wrong direction.
Major Hai said that over the first 3 days of the 7-day Tet holiday break, a total of 51 road traffic violations were handled, 3 of which involving in cars and the remaining 48 in motorcycles.
