During last year, no forest fires were recorded in Da Nang’s Son Tra District.  However, there were 3 cases of forest resource devastation, and the city authorities imposed disciplinary measures on 5 local government employees for their irresponsible behaviour.

In addition, illegal wood logging was discovered in the Truong Mai area of the Son Tra Peninsula’s sub-region 63 last April, which caused great concern to the public.

In 2017, according to the annual report from the Son Tra and Ngu Hanh Son inter-district Forest Management Unit, the focus will be on further enhancing the capacity of local forest protection and management forces.  Importance will also be attached to widely publicising the country’s forest protection and development laws amongst the general public.

In addition, patrols and checks in local forests will be increased to deal with any violations and ensure the efficiency of fire prevention and fighting activities.
