In attendance were municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman cum Head of the Department of Publicity and Training Dang Viet Dung, Vice Chairman of the local Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Dang Hai, Deputy Head of the city’s Buddhist Sangha Most Venerable Thich Chi Man, along with a total of over 1,000 Buddhist dignitaries and followers across the city.

At the event, Most Venerable Thich Chi Man read a message from the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Supreme Patriarch.

The message highlighted that the sustainable development of the VBS at all levels lays a solid foundation for promoting the Vietnamese Buddhism’s spirit of ‘safeguarding the country and bringing peace to the people’.  In his message, the Supreme Patriarch encouraged Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns, and followers both at home and abroad to enhance their sense of responsibility and fulfill their obligations to effectively live up to the motto ‘Intelligence – Discipline – Integration – Development’.

Vice Chairman Hai spoke highly of the great efforts made by local Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns, and followers for the city’s progress over recent years.

He also hoped that the local Buddhist followers would continue making joint efforts with the city’s authorities and other local residents to strengthen national solidarity and fulfil local key socio-economic tasks in order to make Da Nang a more modern, civilised, beautiful and peaceful city.

In particular, importance should be attached to effectively implementing the ‘City of 4 Safe Programmes’ campaign, and the ‘5 No's, 3 Yes's’ programme, and the ‘All People Unite to Upgrade New Rural Areas and Build a Civilised Urban Lifestyle’ patriotic movement.

Also at the event, many balloons and pigeons were released as a prayer for peace to the country and more happiness to all sentient beings.
