Results of contest to design souvenirs for APEC participants
On Thursday, the awards ceremony of a contest to design tourism souvenirs for Da Nang took place in the lobby of the Da Nang Administration Centre at 24 Tran Phu. In attendance were municipal People’s Council Vice Chairman Nguyen Nho Trung and People’s Committee Vice Chairman cum Head of the contest’s Organising Board Ho Ky Minh.

The aim of the contest was to select the most beautiful designs for souvenirs to be gifted to the participants of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW) which is being held in the city from 5 to 11 November. The designs were required to have high economic value and meet technical and aesthetic standards. The contest’s organisers received a total of 171 entries from 46 individuals and 31 organisations in 8 Vietnamese localities.
In the end, a set of ceramic vases called ‘Tam-Thuc’ (Heart-Mind), created by the Ha Noi-based Bo Trai Ceramics Co Ltd, won the first prize.

Second prizes were shared by a wooden plate featuring the logo of the APEC Viet Nam 2017 event produced by the Goldenkey Manufacture and Gift Distributing JSC in Ha Noi, and the ‘Giai Dieu Luong Tri” (The Melody of Conscience) work by meritorious artisans Tran Thu and Nguyen The Quoc, both from Quang Nam Province.

Five third prizes went to a 3D gold-plated painting featuring an image of the Dragon Bridge by meritorious artisan Tran Duy Mong from Hue, a stamp picture ‘Da Nang - Destination for APEC 2017’ by the Da Nang Post Office, a picture by artisan Le Ba Linh from Binh Duong Province, an entry highlighting an image of red-shanked douc langurs by the Nguyen Vy establishment created in quartz, and a clock by meritorious craftsman Ngoc Minh from Quang Nam Province.
In addition, 12 consolation prizes were given out to other entries.

Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chairman Minh remarked that the contest had attracted many special entries, all with a high aesthetic value and featuring symbolic images of the city, thereby helping to diversify local tourism souvenirs for visitors and investors from both home and abroad.
He asked the municipal departments of Foreign Affairs and Industry and Trade to jointly order products created from the prize-winning designs to be gifted to the AELW participants.

Also, relevant local agencies will cooperate with the contest’s participants to help boost the promotion of their products and increase their consumption.
After AELW 2017 concludes, all these entries will be put on display at the Museum of Da Nang.
