Mr Nguyen Hoai Duc, director of the centre, said the system will catch and post clear images of vehicles to the centre, thus supporting traffic police’s pursuit and record of traffic offenders.

He said the system, which was developed by an Information Technology (IT) group in Da Nang, was designed to connect with the city’s public security and household camera system.

Mr Duc said the system caught 1,000 traffic violations at a junction in the city during a test last month.

He said the city plans to install the made-in-Da Nang system at crowd junctions and crossroads in an effort to boost traffic supervision.

Last year, the city installed security camera systems at 3,296 sites on streets, living quarters, trading centres, industrial parks, markets, restaurants, hotels, bars and offices.

Traffic cameras were also set up at 4,700 sites to monitor traffic accidents and violations in 2015.

A report from the city stated that the city’s court handled over 1,000 criminal cases in 2015, and public security in the city ranked 28th out of 64 provinces and cities nationwide.

The city also has plans to install sensor systems to monitor air pollution.
