Da Nang’s Hai Chau District has been recognised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Internal Affairs as a first-grade administrative unit. The decision took effect from 14 July.
The district scored 78 points on a 100-point scale on criteria about population size, natural area, the number of administrative wards, socio-economic growth, and specific characteristics. The minimum points score for a district to become a first-grade administrative unit is 75.
This is the second district in the city to be recognised as a first-grade administrative unit, after Lien Chieu District in late May.
