It was reported that over 43 billion VND from the city budget went to help a total of 1,430 social policy families build new houses or repair their downgraded ones.  Also, a total of 22,000 people who gave great service in the national revolution received regular allowances funded from the city budget.

A total of over 16.5 billion VND was donated by local individuals and organisations to refurbish local martyrs’ cemeteries, and to give financial aid and bank savings account books to social policy beneficiaries.

The Hoa Khuong Commune Martyrs’ Cemetery was rebuilt at a cost of 20 billion VND from the city budget, whilst over 27 billion VND was used to refurbish 5 other local cemeteries.

Biological samples from the remains of 236 unknown martyrs who were repatriated and reburied in local martyrs’ cemeteries, were taken for AND testing in order to find their genetic relatives.

Most notably, the city leaders visited and presented gifts to many social policy families in the city, and those from its twin localities including Hai Phong City, and the Thanh Hoa and Quang Nam provinces, at a total cost of over 15 billion VND.

Addressing the review meeting, municipal People’s Committee (PC) Vice Chairman Ho Ky Minh highly praised relevant local agencies, organisations, individuals and media agencies for implementing meaningful activities celebrating the 70th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day.  He highlighted the importance of continuing organising more practical programmes to benefit local social policy beneficiaries, and educating younger generations about the national revolutionary spirit.

Also at the meeting, 24 individuals and 27 organisations, including the DA NANG Newspaper, received Certificates of Merit from the municipal PC in recognition of their active involvement in the celebration activities.
