Sick fisherman saved
On Monday afternoon, a sick crew member of fishing boat DNa 90910 from the sea off the Hoang Sa (Paracels) Archipelago was safely brought back to the mainland for treatment.
At 4.44pm on 3 September, fisherman Nguyen Van Mu was reported to be in a deep coma and his life was threatened. At the time the vessel was fishing at latitude 17°35’N and longitude 108°25’E, about 86 nautical miles northeast off the Da Nang coast.
After receiving an SOS message from the boat’s captain, the Da Nang Coastal Information Station immediately helped the boat’s crew members to contact doctors from the city’s Marine Medicine Hospital to ask for first aid instructions.
At 7.00pm on the same day, Mr Mu’s health condition got worse. Therefore, the Da Nang Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Da Nang MRCC) sent out its rescue ship SAR 412 to help the sick crew member.
In the early morning of Monday, SAR 412 arrived at the scene and the patient was transported back to the mainland for further treatment.
