Traffic accidents kill 67 during New Year Break
Traffic accidents killed 67 people and injured 74 others during the 3 days of New Year Break, data from the Ministry of Public Security showed on 1 January.

The number of victims was 12 less, but the number of injured was 20 higher compared to the same period last year. No tragic accidents were reported during the three days.
Traffic was brought to a standstill in two major cities of Ha Noi and HCM City on the first and the last days of the holidays due to a huge number of people and vehicles to returning to their hometowns and coming back to the city, the ministry said.
On Sunday night, thousands of people flocked to local roads to celebrate New Year’s Eve also caused traffic problems on main streets in the two cities.
Traffic police dealt with a total of over 16,300 traffic violations in the country during the holidays with total fines of up to 11.1 billion VND (US$489,000).
