7.972 billion VND raised for AO victims

On Thursday evening, a charity musical concert ‘Joining Efforts to Relieve Pain of Agent Orange (AO) victims’ took place at Da Nang’s Trung Vuong Theatre.

The event had been jointly organised by the Da Nang Association of AO Victims (DAVA), the Military High Command, the War Veterans' Association, the Department of Education and Training, all based in Da Nang, the DA NANG and Police newspapers, and the Da Nang Radio and Television.

Addressing the event, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman cum Head of the municipal Department of Publicity and Training Dang Viet Dung spoke highly of DAVA for its recent remarkable achievements in providing the best care for AO victims. The organisation has actively become involved in helping the city fulfil its targets for ensuring social welfare.

The city leader took the opportunity to thank generous individuals and organisations from both home and abroad for their great support for DAVA to give the best care for AO victims.

He also highlighted the significance of the concert in showing the role of responsibility of DAVA, and the close coordination between relevant agencies, in appealing for more donations from generous donors to help local AO victims.   

To mark the occasion, Vice Chairman Dung presented 200 million VND from the budget of  municipal Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front Committee, to AO victims.

Also at the event, 20 gifts, worth 500,000 VND each, were given to AO victims.

Between 9 May and 12 July, a total of 7.972 billion VND in cash and materials was raised from domestic and foreign individuals and organisations to help AO victims.
