Between 2 July and 30 September, the University of Da Nang is implementing the 2018 summer volunteer campaign.

This year’s campaign takes ‘The Youth from the University of Da Nang are Creative and Volunteer for the Community’ as its theme.

The 2-month-long campaign attracts a total of over 800 students from the member schools of the University who are getting involved in various charitable and social activities.

It features 3 main programmes - Joining Efforts for the Community, International Summer Voluntary Programme, and Giving Strength to Schooling.

In particular, the Joining Efforts for the Community programme is scheduled to take place in some poor localities of Da Nang, and Quang Nam and Kon Tum provinces, from 2 - 31 July.

During the period, the focus will be on repairing houses of social policy families, upgrading rural roads, dredging canals, and installing lighting systems.

The volunteers are becoming involved in developing tourism development projects, introducing scientific and technological advances, establishing cooperation groups of young people, and helping young people in rural areas to develop their economic development models.

In addition, they will give free medical examinations and medicine to poor people, as well as provide summer training courses, and teach foreign languages and computer skills, for school pupils.

As for the 2018 International Summer Voluntary Programme in mid-July, the volunteers will offer free medical examinations and medicines to residents in Laos’ Salavan Province.

The Giving Strength to Schooling programme is expected to take place in the city in August and September.

The participating students will give consultancy activities about enrollment procedures, and presenting scholarships to outstanding students.  Also, cheap lodging places in the city’s student halls of residence and guesthouses, and students’ associations and clubs, will be introduced to freshmen.
