Buiding Da Nang's future through its smart city model
On Monday, representatives from the Da Nang People’s Committee (PC) and the Viet Nam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) entered into a cooperation agreement on turning Da Nang into an IT-dependent smart city for the 2018 – 2020 period.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by municipal PC Chairman Huynh Duc Tho, municipal PC Standing Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung, and People’s Council Vice Chairman Le Minh Trung.
Under the agreement, VNPT and Da Nang will jointly continue to maintain telecommunications and information technology (IT) systems and services that the former has already built in the 2014 – 2018 period, especially services supporting the the city government’s management work in natural disaster mitigation and emergency response.
Besides, VNPT will help the city to promote the application of smart apps in transport, public security, tourism, natural resources, the environment, agriculture-forestry-fishery, and more.
Addressing the event, Chairman Tho said that, in the current context of rapidly changing world technology, it is high time for Da Nang to accelerate its smart city building process.
At present, the inevitable trend in international urban management is to use artificial intelligence, big data, block chain. If Da Nang fails to meet these requirements, it will be quickly left further behind.
The city leader underlined a must for VNPT to develop a roadmap for building a smart city in the most reasonable manner. In particular, the solutions must be implemented in a synchronized manner, with a focus on training managerial staff to maximise the productivity.
