Treatment of leachate at Khanh Son Landfill
Leachate from the Khanh Son Landfill located in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, Da Nang, has been collected and treated by a treatment facility for more than one week.
Adjustments of the leachate treatment methods are underway at the new treatment facility |
The 88 billion VND facility funded by the city budget has a daily treatment capacity of 700 m3.
The reasonable adjustments of the leachate treatment methods are underway. Accordingly, the integrated biological (anaerobic–aerobic) and physico-chemical treatment technologies are used to ensure that the quality of treated landfill leachate meet the national standards for the sake of the city’s environment protection.
According to Mr Nguyen Tuan Son, the Director of the municipal Management Board of Da Nang Infrastructure Construction and Urban Development Projects, the facility’s developer and manager, the new treatment plant is operating effectively.
Many families living surrounding the landfill site have been very satisfied with the operation of the facility. In the past, a canal nearby was contaminated due to a volume of landfill leachate, and people who passed by had to put up with a sickening stench wafting off the site.
