In addition, 37 new hot spots for this disease were identified in local residential areas.

In recent days, hospitals across the city have received a large number of dengue fever patients from Da Nang and Quang Nam Province.

In particular, the Da Nang General Hospital is providing medical treatment to over 230 inpatients diagnosed with dengue fever at its Ward for Tropical and Infectious Diseases.

In order to temporarily reduce patient overload, more hospital beds have been placed along the Ward’s corridor walls, leaving small space for doctors, nurses and patients to move around. In addition, more doctors and nurses have been arranged to meet the increasing number of inpatients.

Recently, the My Thanh 2 residential area in Son Tra District’s Phuoc My Ward has seen a dramatic increase in the number of dengue cases.

Dr Nguyen Van Ngu, Deputy Head of the Ward for Tropical and Infectious Diseases of the city’s Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital, said in addition to 50 inpatients with dengue fever, his ward gave medical examinations to around 80 outpatients in total every day.

Dr Ngu warned that most of people were still subjective with this mosquito-borne tropical disease because the symptoms of dengue fever are quite similar to other common febrile illness.

Therefore, parents are advised to bring their children to hospital for medical examinations and blood tests in order to have exact treatment regimen from the beginning of the disease.

He also warned parents not to treat their children with dengue fever at home in order to avoid endangering their children.

As of 25 November, over 3,800 cases of dengue fever had been recorded across the city. Currently, Da Nang has the highest number of dengue cases in the country.
