Practical help for AO victims
Da Nang now has a total of more than 5,000 Agent Orange (AO) victims, around 1,400 of whom are disabled children.

Since its establishment in 2005, the Da Nang Association of Agent Orange Victims (DAVA) has set up its chapters in all districts and wards across the city, with a total membership of 3,000, including many foreign honorary members.
Thanks to the chapters’ effective operations, thousands of AO victims across the city have received material and spiritual help from the whole community.
In particular, DAVA has raised a total of 4.5 billion VND from generous domestic and foreign donors to repair downgraded houses and rebuild new ones for 150 local victims.
In addition, the association has organised numerous charitable events in the city to appeal for more public donations to help these victims relieve their mental and physical pain.
During the Tet festivals and anniversaries of Viet Nam's Agent Orange/Dioxin Disaster, the association has presented more than 45,000 gifts to local AO victims. The gifts cost 18 billion VND in total which has been raised from generous donors both at home and abroad.
Moreover, the association has granted monthly allowances, totalling over 5 billion VND, to 1,500 people exposed to AO.
Notably, 13 billion VND in total has been raised to assist 4,500 AO victims in very difficult circumstances to do their businesses to increase their incomes, as well as to cover their medical treatment costs.
Also, the association has donated bicycles and wheelchairs, worth 1.5 billion VND in total, to 300 families of AO victims, as well as granted hundreds of scholarships for AO children to help them overcome their difficulties and study well.
