Themed ‘Paper Cranes - My Dreams’, the event is part of a series of meaningful activities held by the district’s Youth Union organisation for the Youth Month 2019.
Secretary of the district’s Youth Union organisation Nguyen Thi Anh Thao said that the fundraising event was officially launched in early February. After the first 3 weeks of launching, her organisation received a total of 33 paintings, and sales of these drawings collected over 40 million VND in total.
Ms Thao added this amount went to help 35 poor pupils living in very difficult circumstances.
Amongst the recipients are a pupil from the Le Quy Don Primary School who is suffering from the end-stage kidney cancer, and is receiving treatment at the Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital, and a pupil residing in Thuan Phuoc Ward who becomes paralysed after a traffic accident.
According to Ms Thao, the paintings drawn by local pupils have conveyed a message of great love and compassion from the community to help child patients overcome their physical pain.
She pledged to continue organising more similar activities in a bid to give more support for the disadvantaged children in the coming time.
