On Wednesday, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Dang Viet Dung had a working session with representatives from the Viet Nam Environment Joint-Stock Company and the China Everbright International Limited.

During the meeting, the guests proposed that the existing waste recycling plant at the Khanh Son Landfill located in Lien Chieu District's Hoa Khanh Nam Ward should be converted into an energy-from-waste incinerator with a daily capacity of around 400 tonnes of garbage.

Vice Chairman Dung asked the municipal Department of Natural Resources and the Environment to learn about the investment, construction, and operation of the existing energy-from-waste incinerator in Can Tho City which has been developed by the China Everbright International Limited.

He underscored the importance of considering the efficiency of the incinerator through evaluations given by ministries and national agencies, as well as learning about legal procedures relating to the building of this incinerator.

In addition, Mr Dung urged relevant local agencies along with  the Viet Nam Environment Joint-Stock Company and the China Everbright International Limited to conduct a pre-feasibility study and environmental impact assessments of the project in the city.

The Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, the Department of Planning and Investment and the Viet Nam Environment Joint-Stock Company, will review the operation of the 1st phase of the Khanh Son waste recycling plant.

Meanwhile, functional bodies are responsible for reporting incinerator-related information to the municipal authorities for consideration within around one week.
